Desperately Seeking to Stay on Gov Payroll, David Perdue Approves Locking Up His Political Opponent, Says Election Stolen from Him

Forbes: “Former Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) riled a crowd of former President Donald Trump’s supporters into “lock him up!” chants at a rally Saturday night after falsely accusing Gov. Brian Kemp (R) of enabling voter fraud and suggesting he’d somehow jail “those people responsible for that fraud,” as polls show Perdue well behind the incumbent in his Trump-backed bid for governor.

Key Facts

The crowd at the rally erupted when Perdue parroted the ex-president’s longstanding false claims that widespread fraud robbed Trump of a win in the 2020 presidential election, saying he’d “make sure that those people responsible for that fraud in 2020 go to jail.”

Perdue smiled and appeared to give a thumbs-up to the crowd when the “lock him up” chants broke out.”

Political Wire:

“Former Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) — who is running for Georgia governor — falsely claimed for the first time that he didn’t lose to Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) in the 2021 runoffs claiming that he and Donald Trump were both victims of “stolen” elections, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Said Perdue: “Let me be very clear. Very clear. In the state of Georgia, thanks to Brian Kemp, our elections were absolutely stolen. He sold us out.””
