AL Political Reporter: “Fox News star Tucker Carlson recently blasted the Washington D.C.-based Club for Growth in a primetime segment.
Club for Growth has previously been accused of trying to get Alabama Republicans to promise to vote against their constituents’ interests in exchange for money from the organization.
“So, if you’ve ever wondered why there’s a massive between Republicans and a lot of the legislators that represent them, you can ask the people who raise the money for congressional and Senate races on the Republican side,” Carlson said. “The Club for Growth is one of the groups that raises the most money and has a major effect on elections. They’re involved in a ton of Senate races.”
One such race is in Alabama, where Club for Growth has endorsed six-term Congressman Mo Brooks, R-Alabama. Brooks began the race bragging that he had a 50-point lead in the polls, but recent polls have shown a neck-and-neck race and even Brooks already down to first-time candidate Katie Britt. Brooks on the radio has now admitted the race is tight, after at first claiming the recent polls were fabricated.”
