Arkansas Times: “State Corrections Board Member Lee Watson said Monday that fellow board member Nathan Lee could not serve on the panel because he also works as deputy secretary of state.
Watson said the Article 19, Section 6 of the Constitution and various statutes and case law all say that Lee’s holding of two state positions was incompatible. ‘This is plain and simple,’ he said. ‘It’s black letter law. As the name implies, it’s black and white.’
Lee was appointed at the end of 2025 by Gov. Sarah Sanders, who now has appointed four members of the board, giving her a majority of the seven members.
Watson ended his letter to Attorney General Griffin: ‘If you disagree, please notify me immediately so that I can take legal action to remedy this constitutional violation.’”
