March 28, 2026 marked the third national No Kings day of action — the largest single-day protest in American history, with an estimated 8 to 9 million participants across more than 3,300 events nationwide. The South showed up.
VIRGINIA
Virginia Mercury: Richmond’s No Kings protest draws thousands through the city.
WSLS: “Demonstrations were held in Roanoke, Lynchburg, Rocky Mount, Blacksburg and more.”
ALABAMA
AL.com: “A ‘No Kings’ rally was held in Birmingham’s Railroad Park on March 28, to protest the policies of President Donald Trump. The afternoon rally was one of two planned for the city that Saturday, with 7,000 turning out across Birmingham alone.”
MISSISSIPPI
Mississippi Free Press: “Protests were staged in Gulfport, Hattiesburg, Hernando, Jackson, Kosciusko, Oxford, Starkville and Tupelo — a statewide turnout that surprised even organizers in one of the nation’s most reliably Republican states.”
TENNESSEE
Tennessee Lookout: “The Tennessee protests, taking place in dozens of cities across the state, are among an estimated 3,100 No Kings events planned nationwide. ‘Trump wants to rule over us as a tyrant. We’re not going to stand for it,’ one Nashville attendee said.”
The Tennessean: “Another ‘No Kings’ protest against President Donald Trump drew huge crowds to downtown Nashville on Saturday, March 28. Demonstrators filled Nashville’s Bicentennial Mall and Jefferson Street. The protest was one of around 40 held in Tennessee alone.”
ARKANSAS
Arkansas Advocate: “Thousands of people crossed the Broadway Bridge connecting Little Rock and North Little Rock on Saturday as rallies and other events were underway in Arkansas as part of the third ‘No Kings’ demonstrations nationwide. The Little Rock march continued to a Community Connect fair with over 30 organizations, designed to encourage protesters to plug into their local communities.”
LOUISIANA
NOLA.com: “Thousands joined the ‘No Kings’ rally in New Orleans, with speakers calling it ‘your civil rights moment.’ Other cities that saw rallies included Baton Rouge, Covington, Slidell, Lafayette, Monroe, Shreveport and Alexandria — 11 Louisiana cities in all.”
Louisiana Illuminator: “Opposition to President Donald Trump’s decision to attack Iran and his administration’s policies on immigration and the environment were among the issues that brought out attendees at events held Saturday throughout Louisiana. ‘Don’t give up hope,’ organizers told the crowd.”
TEXAS
Dallas Morning News: “Thousands marched in Dallas, Fort Worth and Frisco on Saturday as part of the nationwide ‘No Kings’ protests. More than 10 demonstrations were scheduled across North Texas alone. Texas had over 100 events statewide — one of the highest totals in the nation.”
FLORIDA
Florida Today: “Attendance ranged from a few hundred to 3,000 at the roughly 90 anti-Trump rallies across the state. Republican consultant Ana Navarro and Rep. Jamie Raskin spoke in Tropical Park in Miami-Dade …”
NORTH CAROLINA
WRAL: “Thousands gathered outside the State Capitol building on Saturday as part of the nationwide ‘No Kings’ protests. ACLU speakers took to the stage asking attendees to sign a petition to end ICE in North Carolina. Just outside of the Triangle, thousands walked through downtown Fayetteville in inflatables and Handmaid’s Tale costumes. In Southern Pines, over 3,000 people marched. More than 70 towns and cities in NC held events.”
News & Observer: “Residents of the Triangle and across central North Carolina took to streets, sidewalks and parking lots as part of the nationwide ‘No Kings’ movement. Many smaller communities held rallies for the first time. ‘If we vote our power, a wannabe king will not be coronated,’ Rev. William Barber told the crowd at the State Capitol. ‘If we vote our power,’ the crowd screamed back.”
WBTV: “Thousands of people gathered Saturday at Charlotte’s First Ward Park for the ‘No Kings’ protest — joining millions in protest across the nation. Charlotte’s protest was one of dozens of ‘No Kings’ events held across the Carolinas. The White House dismissed the protests as a product of ‘leftist funding networks’ with little real public support. The 8 million people who showed up apparently didn’t get the memo.”
SOUTH CAROLINA
Post and Courier: “An estimated 7,000 showed up to the demonstration in North Charleston, with the crowd stretching for more than a mile along Ashley Phosphate Road. A couple thousand turned out in Greenville, and about 1,000 lined Boundary Street in Beaufort. Rallies were held in 29 cities across South Carolina. Frustrations spanned the war in Iran, attempts to roll back voting rights and equal protection laws, and the ongoing immigration crackdown.”
SC Daily Gazette: “Karen Flynn, a 72-year-old from Columbia, came to the Statehouse on Saturday to protest what she saw as the destruction of democracy through the erosion of voter rights and the war in Iran. ‘Every election matters, every vote matters, and every voice matters,’ she said.”
GEORGIA
11Alive: “According to Atlanta Police, approximately 6,000 people gathered near the Georgia Capitol on Saturday for a rally and march as part of the nationwide ‘No Kings’ demonstrations. Among the most noteworthy moments was Sen. Raphael Warnock making extended remarks, asking: ”We the People’ is a radical idea. Are you ready to stand up for our democracy?’ Additional demonstrations followed throughout the afternoon in East Cobb, McDonough, Marietta, Sandy Springs, Smyrna and Fayetteville — with events spread across 57 cities statewide.”
Atlanta News First: “Thousands of people congregated in metro Atlanta on Saturday for the latest ‘No Kings’ protest against President Donald Trump’s administration. Dozens of rallies were planned across north Georgia, with protesters marching near the Georgia State Capitol building and into surrounding neighborhoods.”
