More than 25% of Dallas students missed school during ‘Day Without Immigrants’ protest
More than 25% of Dallas students missed school during the nationwide ”Day Without Immigrants” protest, according to district data.
Dallas ISD’s attendance rate on Feb. 3 was 73%, prompting district officials to seek a waiver from the state to exclude the day from their average daily attendance calculations. Texas schools are funded based on how many students come to class.
As part of the Day Without Immigrants protest, advocates urged immigrants to stay home from work or school, to temporarily shut down their businesses and to avoid shopping. The actions aimed to highlight their role in American society amid President Donald Trump’s sweeping actions on immigration.

Houston leaders, organizations rally against President Trump’s executive orders at city hall
Houston leaders and citizens came together Sunday to protest recent executive orders signed by President Donald Trump.
The “Houston United for Justice” rally took place outside Houston City Hall and was organized by Houston NAACP, FIEL Houston LULAC and other social justice groups.
Among the leaders present were Congressman Al Green (D-TX-9) and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (D-TX-29).

Immigrant rights groups partnered to host an immigrant legislative advocacy day Wednesday, drawing dozens of community members to attend a small conference in the morning focused on speaking to lawmakers about the experience of Alabama immigrants and encouraging them to vote no on legislation that advocates feel is discriminatory.
Activists in South Carolina join nationwide economic blackout to protest DEI program cuts
Friday, a nationwide movement asked people to keep their hard earned money in their pockets for 24 hours also happened in South Carolina.
Activists want folks to show the power of their dollar to companies that are slashing DEI initiatives as part of what’s being called an economic blackout.
To make their voices heard activists put their money where their mouth is and called on people to join in. “It doesn’t take everybody to make a change,” said Tiffany James, the President of the Columbia Chapter National Action Network.
Organizations including the Columbia chapter of the National Action Network encouraged people to not only stop buying in stores for the day, but also online.
In Georgia, protesters come out for Ukraine, against Trump
Atlanta saw multiple protests over the weekend.
People returned to downtown Atlanta on Sunday to show their support for Ukraine. Protesters are calling on the Trump administration to support Ukraine more and be less sympathetic to Russia.
And there were several protests against President Donald Trump and his policies.
U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson organized a protest calling for Social Security administration job cuts – which include the closure of several offices in Georgia – to be reversed.
