ABC11: “On the first day of candidate filing in North Carolina for the 2024 election, a new lawsuit has been filed challenging recently created voting maps.
The newly-drawn districts passed during the most recent legislative session.
Political analysts believe the new maps will give Republicans an advantage in 10 or 11 of the state’s 14 districts — a marked shift from the current 7-7 split.
The lawsuit, which you can read for yourself below, was brought forward by 18 voters who alleged the maps “pack and crack minority voters into gerrymandered districts designed to minimize their voting strength.””
