AR Times: “Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Robin Wynne has died, a spokesman for the court announced Thursday morning. A cause of death was not announced.
His death leaves a vacancy on the seven-member court, and Gov. Sarah Sanders will appoint a replacement to fill the seat until an election can be held. The state’s next judicial elections are in spring 2024.
Wynne, 70, had served on the court since 2015. He just won a second eight-year term in November in a runoff election heavily colored by partisan politics. Though Arkansas’s judicial races are officially nonpartisan, ads supporting Wynne’s opponent in the race, Conway judge Chris Carnahan, painted Wynne as a liberal and touted Carnahan’s conservative bona fides. “
