WaPo: “Lawyers for Tyre Nichols’s family launched a federal civil rights lawsuit Wednesday morning against the city of Memphis, its police department, Police Chief Cerelyn Davis, former Memphis Fire Department employees and the officers involved in the brutal beating that followed a traffic stop in January.
Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, died three days later.
His relatives are seeking $550 million in damages, said civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is one of their lawyers.”
