WaPo: “Democrats will select a nominee in the special election to replace the late Rep. A. Donald McEachin in a firehouse primary on Dec. 20 — creating a mad-dash one-week campaign after Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced a tight timeline for the election earlier Monday.
Youngkin (R) announced a special election to fill the 4th Congressional District seat on Feb. 21, following McEachin’s death last month. The three-term congressman had long battled the secondary effects of colorectal cancer treatment.
Youngkin set a filing deadline to get on the ballot for Dec. 23, which members of the 4th District Democratic committee saidmeant they had to have their nominee selected by then.”
