He placed third in the 2019 Republican primary for governor after making national headlines for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mississippitoday.org\/2019\/07\/09\/robert-foster-gop-governor-candidate-denies-woman-reporter-access-because-of-her-gender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refusing to allow women journalists to ride along in his truck on the campaign trail<\/a>\u00a0despite allowing male journalists to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite winning less than 18% of the GOP primary vote, Foster\u2019s farm venue has become a prime destination for Republicans since 2019, with GOP officials like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.taterecord.com\/tate-co-republicans-hold-dinner#sthash.5XBlonGr.oYUoNNKp.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, U.S. House Rep.
