He warned Wednesday that voters he has spoken to are \u201cdesperate out here for road and bridge money\u201d and wondering where it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDemocrats have got to quit talking, and they\u2019ve got to get something done,\u201d McAuliffe said in a telephone interview. \u201cYou got elected to get things done. We have the House, Senate and White House.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/virginia-politics\/virginia-governor-debate-mcauliffe-youngkin\/2021\/09\/28\/2f421720-1fa9-11ec-b3d6-8cdebe60d3e2_story.html?itid=lk_inline_manual_8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his final debate against Republican business executive Glenn Youngkin<\/a>&nbsp;on Tuesday night, McAuliffe distanced himself from some of the decisions Biden and congressional Democrats have made in recent weeks, as he sought to appeal to moderate voters. He urged Democrats to pare down an ambitious expansion of the social safety net and did not rebut Youngkin\u2019s sharp criticism of the president\u2019s withdrawal from Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Party officials say that McAuliffe, who holds a slim polling lead over Youngkin, remains the favorite to win at this point.
