Greg Abbott after\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tK11VkicTzo\" target=\"_blank\">a television ad<\/a>\u00a0was pulled blasting\u00a0his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lincoln Project, an American political action committee formed in 2019 made up of former and current Republicans, issued&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ProjectLincoln\/status\/1439955208214306821\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a statement questioning<\/a>&nbsp;why the TV ad that it funded for $25,000 on ESPN during the nationally televised Texas vs. Rice college football game didn&#8217;t air. The group said the ad was pulled 10 minutes before it was expected to run, despite ESPN&#8217;s legal team clearing it beforehand.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ad was pulled, citing a &#8220;university-made&#8221; decision. And a\u00a0spokesman for Abbott\u00a0told The Dallas Morning News\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/politics\/2021\/09\/19\/anti-trump-group-tv-ad-blasting-texas-gov-greg-abbott-pulled-before-start-ut-rice-football-game\/\" target=\"_blank\">he had nothing to do with the decision<\/a>. Still, the\u00a0Lincoln Project asserts that Abbott, a Texas graduate who appoints members of the school\u2019s board of regents, played a part in the ad not running and said it plans to file a public records request to determine that.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDid Greg Abbott or his allies assert political influence to ensure the advertisement was not broadcast?\u201d the Lincoln Project asked in the news release. \u201cOnce again, instead of focusing on the task of keeping Texans safe from the coronavirus pandemic, it appears they\u2019ve focused their time and energy on censoring those that would hold him to account for his failures.\u201d&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USA Today: &#8220;A Republican group\u00a0known for speaking out against former President Donald Trump\u00a0is calling out Texas Gov.
