{"id":141945,"date":"2025-01-28T13:49:44","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T13:49:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yellowdogwire.com\/?p=141945"},"modified":"2025-01-28T13:49:48","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T13:49:48","slug":"justice-for-doug-march-held-for-man-killed-in-ky-police-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yellowdogwire.com\/?p=141945","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;\u2018Justice for Doug\u2019 march held for man killed in Ky. police shooting&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wkyt.com\/2025\/01\/25\/march-protest-held-ky-man-killed-by-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WKYT<\/a>: &#8220;It\u2019s now been more than a month since Kentucky State Police say&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wkyt.com\/2024\/12\/29\/video-shows-moments-leading-up-deadly-kentucky-police-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Doug Harless was shot and killed at his home by a London Police Officer.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kentucky State Police says on December 23, London Police were attempting to serve a search warrant when an LPD officer shot and killed Harless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Troopers say the shooting happened at Harless\u2019 home, 511 Vanzant Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several court records and dispatch audio from the night of the shooting, all obtained by WKYT, indicate London Police were serving a search warrant at 489 Vanzant Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WKYT has attempted to obtain a copy of the search warrant since just days after Harless was killed, but our requests have repeatedly been denied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police have remained tight-lipped about the case, leaving community members with unanswered questions. Saturday, they held their second \u2018Justice for Doug\u2019 march.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marchers made their way down Main Street in London, concluding the march in front of the London Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor something like that to happen is really disturbing because if we don\u2019t speak up, it could happen again,\u201d said Gary Lawson, a friend of Harless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harless\u2019 family says they\u2019re\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wkyt.com\/2025\/01\/24\/family-ky-man-killed-by-police-says-national-civil-rights-attorney-is-taking-their-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enlisting the help of civil rights attorney Ben Crump<\/a>.
