In most of the cases \u2014 121 of the 210 \u2014\u00a0the information later used against the women was obtained or disclosed in a medical setting, researchers found.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The period examined \u2014 from June 2022, when the court\u2019s decision was released, to June 2023 \u2014 represented the highest number of pregnancy-related criminalizations in U.S. history, the authors of the report said. This initial report is part of a three-year study of pregnancy criminalization in the wake of the Supreme Court\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Dobbs<\/em>&nbsp;decision; the organization is working in partnership with researchers from the University of Tennessee, the University of South Carolina, the University of Texas Austin, and the University of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/alabama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alabama<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Most of the cases involved allegations of substance use during pregnancy, including 86 instances that concerned the use of marijuana.
