Willis<\/a>\u00a0(D) acknowledged that she had a personal relationship with an outside prosecutor she appointed to manage the election interference case against former president\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/donald-trump\/?itid=lk_inline_manual_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0and his allies. But she denied claims that the relationship had tainted the proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/documents\/e0d2e50a-2f0b-4e32-bf0e-e9d2f79c3a79.pdf?itid=lk_inline_manual_4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">176-pagecourt filing on Friday<\/a>, Willis called the claims against her \u201cmeritless\u201d and \u201csalacious.\u201d She asked a judge to reject motions from Trump and other co-defendants that seek to disqualify her and her office from the case \u2014 and to do so without an evidentiary hearing. Willis denied claims of misconduct and said there was no evidence that the relationship between her and special prosecutor&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2024\/01\/14\/nathan-wade-fani-willis-georgia-trump\/?itid=lk_inline_manual_4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nathan Wade<\/a>&nbsp;had prejudiced the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The filing included a sworn affidavit from Wade, who said there was \u201cno personal relationship\u201d between him and Willis \u201cprior to or at the time\u201d he was appointed.
