{"id":121560,"date":"2023-11-20T16:57:43","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T16:57:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yellowdogwire.com\/?p=121560"},"modified":"2023-11-20T16:57:46","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T16:57:46","slug":"father-seeks-answers-after-death-of-his-son-on-day-he-was-supposed-to-be-released-from-jail-in-al","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yellowdogwire.com\/?p=121560","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Father seeks answers after death of his son on day he was supposed to be released from jail [in AL&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/11\/18\/us\/daniel-terry-williams-alabama-death\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>: &#8220;A grieving father says he wants to know what led to the death of his 22-year-old son on the day he was supposed to be released from an Alabama correctional facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Daniel Terry Williams died November 9 after his family took him off life support following what the Alabama Department of Corrections called a \u201cpossible inmate-on-inmate assault\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams had been serving a 1-year sentence for property theft out of Jefferson County, the department told CNN in a statement&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams said when he called the warden to figure out what had happened, Headley allegedly told him Daniel had \u201capparently overdosed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Williams saw his son at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, he told CNN he \u201ccussed out\u201d the warden, believing the warden had lied to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnybody could look at Daniel and tell he\u2019s not laying on his deathbed because of (an) overdose,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe warden told Terry that Daniel was in the hospital for a drug overdose,\u201d Andrew Menefee, an attorney representing Terry Williams, told CNN. \u201cThe warden did not mention anything regarding a physical or sexual assault on Daniel.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/11\/18\/us\/new-hampshire-state-hospital-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe had bruises all up and down his body, cuts, he had indentations in his head. It looked like they took a mop handle or something and beat him across the head with it.
